WELCOME!
Welcome to Kent Transit! This website is an entry point for the various efforts to impact the mobility of our community. Currently, much is happening on the local, regional, state and national levels to create a much more useable array of transportation services. Take a moment to see how these efforts will impact our community and how you can get involved.
GET INVOLVED!
Of the many efforts underway to improve our public transportation options, two are of special note. Check these out!
The
Kent County Transit Needs Assessment is completing "an assessment of the unmet need and demand for transit in Kent County, particularly those parts of Kent County that are not currently served by The Rapid. The information collected as part of this study will provide information about the potential expansion of transit service beyond the current scope of existing transit service providers in the county."
The
Rapid's Transit Master Plan lays out The Rapid's vision for its development over the next ten years to meet the growing needs and demands for increased public transportation services in the six-urbanized cities. All the details of the "Preferred" Scenario are

THE "GETTING THERE TOGETHER" SUMMIT
In October 2005, over two hundred area residents gathered to set a course for moving our area's mobility forward. This gathering did not begin with blank sheets of paper on the wall. Rather, what made this gathering unique was that we started with three sets of recommendations from previous studies on public transportation and land use issues that had been completed over the previous decade plus. Thus, we didn't need to develop the list of things to work on; we chose to prioritize the many recommendations our community has been discussing for years.
To that end, priorities were set in the areas of:
- Expanding existing public transportation services,
- The connection between transit and land use and
- Funding these services.
